高速道路交通管制の大きな役割は，各種情報の収集および処理を行って，道路利用者が安全・快適にドライブするための情報提供にある。情報提供のためには，情報の収集と処理がキーとなる。その中で，カメラ映像や画像はたくさんの情報量を持つことから，多方面で利用・活用されるようになってきた。高速道路においても無死角化等の施策によりカメラの整備が進み，交通監視のほか，交通量計測や異常事象検出などへの活用が進んでいる。この背景にはカメラの性能向上，そしてAI画像処理など画像処理技術の進展がある。本委員会では，カメラ設置そして画像の利用が進むなか，高速道路における様々な画像情報の利活用について調査することを目的に調査研究を行った。調査研究では，単にカメラから得られる映像あるいは画像を対象としたものばかりでなく，画像処理技術を利用するもの，視覚的に情報提供するものなどを含めて広く調査を行った。本技術報告では，高速道路各社における画像情報利活用の現状，並びに交通管制システム高度化に向けた画像情報活用システムを中心に述べている。 |

The main role of expressway traffic control is to collect and process various information to provide road users with information to drive safely and comfortably. The collection and processing of information is key to providing information. Among them, camera footage and images have come to be used and utilized in many areas because they contain a lot of information. Cameras are being installed on expressways due to measures such as eliminating blind spots, and they are being used for traffic monitoring, traffic volume measurement, abnormal event detection, and more. Behind this is the improvement of camera performance and the development of image processing technology such as AI image processing. As camera installation and image use progress, this committee conducted research with the aim of investigating the utilization of various image information on expressways. In the research, we conducted a wide range of surveys, including not only videos or images obtained from cameras, but also those that use image processing technology and those that provide information visually. This technical report focuses on the current status of image information utilization by expressway companies and image information utilization systems aimed at the sophistication of traffic control systems. |
