In this technical report, historical progress of the application-specific electric motors (ASEM), which specialize in motor structures or mechanisms for the machine or mechanism of the target applications to satisfy application-specific requirements, surveyed by the R&D committee is overviewed. Furthermore, with rare earth free or less rare earth and variable magnetic force as keywords, peculiar motors expected as candidates for next generation’s ASEM are presented in addition with magnetic materials and inverter technologies supporting them. |
